The KENNAMETAL 1114269 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the NRP3047 insert style within the Top Notch series, this left-hand insert features a TiN coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance and extended tool life on a range of workpiece materials. Key cutting geometry includes a 2.39 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm, and a 1.19 mm corner radius with a full radius profile. The 5-degree positive rake angle promotes chip control and reduces cutting forces. This insert is specified by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators running production turning applications.
The 1114269 insert is suited for turning operations requiring precise groove dimensions and controlled chip evacuation. The KC730 carbide grade with TiN finish targets Material Grades C2, C3, and C4, making it applicable across a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Its left-hand orientation and NRP insert style fit Top Notch series toolholders designed for that geometry. Typical applications include external grooving, profiling, and parting on bar stock and turned components in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders accepting the NRP insert style in size 3047. Confirmed compatible with Material Grades C2, C3, and C4. Left-hand orientation must be matched to the appropriate left-hand toolholder seat.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before seating the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before inserting. Use the correct torque driver specified by the Top Notch toolholder manufacturer for the clamping screw — do not over-tighten by hand. Verify insert orientation and seating before resuming cutting operations.
