The KENNAMETAL 1114136 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the KC720 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiN coating, which provides a hard, wear-resistant surface suited to a wide range of workpiece materials spanning material grades C1 through C5. The insert has a 1.58 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm, and a positive rake angle of 10 degrees that promotes clean chip formation and reduces cutting forces. Toolroom machinists and production turning operators install this insert as a direct replacement in Top Notch series toolholders.
This insert is intended for use in applications where consistent groove width and depth control are required. The right-hand cutting orientation and K-style chip breaker make it well suited to finish and semi-finish grooving passes where chip control and surface finish are priorities. The 0.19 mm corner radius and a 55-degree included angle contribute to edge strength at the groove shoulder. Typical installation environments include production machine shops, job shops running ferrous and non-ferrous turning work, and maintenance facilities performing precision component repair on manual or CNC lathes.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL Top Notch series toolholders accepting NG-style inserts in size 2062. Verify toolholder insert-seat designation before installation.
Grooving inserts of this type are seated and clamped by a licensed machinist or qualified toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamping screw for wear or damage prior to seating the new insert, and torque the clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Do not use the insert beyond the rated maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm, as overloading the cutting edge can cause insert fracture.
