The KENNAMETAL 1113864 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Running in the Top Notch series, this insert carries a KC850 manufacturer grade and a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN that provides wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert has a right-hand orientation, a 1.58 mm cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm. A neutral rake geometry and a 0.19 mm corner radius support consistent chip formation across a broad range of workpiece materials, making this insert a reliable choice for production turning environments.
This insert is suited for grooving, recessing, and parting operations on steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces in both light and medium-duty applications. The KC850 grade and CVD multilayer coating make it particularly effective in continuous and mildly interrupted cuts on materials corresponding to ISO material grades C5 and C6. It is typically installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in job shops, production machining facilities, and maintenance repair environments requiring consistent groove geometry and dimensional accuracy.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for Top Notch series grooving toolholders accepting NG-style inserts of size 2062. Verify holder specification against insert style NG and cutting width requirements before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert seating tool as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before each insert change.
