The KENNAMETAL 1113830 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Running in the Top Notch insert system, this right-hand insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN that builds hardness and oxidation resistance for extended tool life in steel and cast iron applications. The cutting width is 0.25 inches (6.35 mm) with a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches (6.35 mm). The full-radius geometry and a 55-degree included angle make this insert well suited to profiling and grooving where consistent chip control and surface finish are priorities. Insert material grade is KC850, rated for material grades C5 and C6.
This insert is intended for use in metal-cutting environments where grooving, recessing, or cutoff operations are performed on lathes equipped with Top Notch toolholders. The NR insert style with neutral rake and full radius is a standard configuration for general-purpose external grooving on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The insert seat size is 4, and the insert size designation is 4125. Typical end users are CNC machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop settings working with steel, alloy steel, and similar workpiece materials.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders accepting insert seat size 4. Cross-reference manufacturer number NR4125R/L for compatible toolholder selection.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Seat the insert firmly against all locating surfaces in the toolholder pocket before clamping to ensure accurate cutting-edge positioning. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before each insert change, as contamination will affect edge height and cutting performance. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque recommendations for the clamping screw.
