The KENNAMETAL 1113828 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the NR4062 style in the Top Notch series, it carries a KC850 grade substrate with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN for thermal resistance and extended edge life. The cutting width is 3.18 mm (0.1252 inches), and the maximum depth of cut reaches 3.81 mm (0.1500 inches). The full-radius geometry with a corner radius of 1.59 mm (0.0626 inches) and a neutral rake produces clean, consistent grooves in a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop turning environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for grooving and profiling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a C5 or C6 material grade rating applies. The NR style and Top Notch series designation make it compatible with Top Notch toolholders and insert seats sized for a 4062 insert with a seat size of 4. The right-hand orientation suits standard OD grooving setups on conventional CNC turning configurations. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders that accept a size 4062 NR-style insert with an insert seat size of 4. The MSC and manufacturer cross-reference number is NR4062R/L. Verify toolholder seat geometry before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert firmly without overtightening. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent microfracture at the cutting edge.
