The KENNAMETAL 1113825 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the NR insert style in the Top Notch series, it features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN that provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The insert carries a KC850 manufacturer grade, placing it in the C5 and C6 material grade range, suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts on steel and stainless steel. With a 2.39 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm, it handles standard grooving and parting profiles with a full-radius nose geometry.
This insert is intended for use in metalworking applications where tight groove tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. It is a right-hand orientation insert with a neutral rake and a full corner radius of 1.19 mm, making it appropriate for radiused groove profiles on turned components. The Top Notch series tooling system is the intended platform. Typical applications include OD grooving on medium to small diameter workpieces in production turning environments. Installation requires a compatible Top Notch series insert holder. The insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use with compatible Top Notch series insert holders accepting the NR3047 insert size. The MSC and manufacturer cross-reference number for this insert is NR3047R/L.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Seat the insert fully into the Top Notch holder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and clamping mechanism for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Do not use a damaged or chipped insert, as carbide fracture during operation is a safety hazard.
