The KENNAMETAL 1113818 is a carbide threading insert designed for precision thread-cutting operations on both internal and external workpieces. Manufactured in the NTP2R style and finished with a CVD-applied TiC/TiCN/TiN multilayer coating, it carries the KC850 grade designation with material grades C5 and C6. The insert produces a partial profile 60-degree thread form, covering external pitches from 0.70 to 3.00 mm (8 to 36 TPI) and internal pitches from 1.25 to 3.50 mm (7 to 20 TPI). It is suited for right-hand threading operations and seats into Top Notch series toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators use this insert in production turning and threading cycles on lathes.
This insert fits production and job-shop environments running CNC or manual lathes where consistent thread geometry is required across a range of pitch values. The partial profile design makes it versatile across multiple thread pitches without requiring a dedicated insert for each pitch. Applications include threading steel and other materials that fall within the C5 and C6 material grade classifications. It is a right-hand insert, so confirm toolholder orientation and spindle direction before installation. The Top Notch series interface provides positive clamping and repeatable seating for reliable threading results.
Designed for use with Top Notch series threading toolholders accepting size 2 NTP-style inserts. Confirm toolholder insert pocket size and hand orientation before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before seating or removing the insert. Do not exceed the toolholder's recommended clamping torque range as specified in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
