The KENNAMETAL 1113611 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This uncoated, right-hand insert carries a K68 manufacturer grade and C3 material grade, making it well suited for machining cast iron, hardened steels, and abrasive non-ferrous materials where a bright, uncoated substrate outperforms coated alternatives. The cutting width measures 0.25 inches (6.35 mm) with a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches (6.35 mm). A neutral rake geometry and a 55-degree included angle contribute to stable, predictable chip formation during grooving cycles.
This insert is used in production and job-shop turning environments where precision grooving, undercutting, or parting is required. The NG insert style with an insert seat size of 4 and insert size designation 4250 fits standard Top Notch toolholders configured for right-hand or left-hand application per the MSC/Manufacturer Number NG4250R/L reference. It is appropriate for both light-duty and moderate-depth grooving within the rated depth-of-cut range of 0.20 to 0.30 inches (5.00 to 10.00 mm). Machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops handling ferrous and select non-ferrous workpieces are the primary installers and users of this insert.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Top Notch series grooving toolholders accepting NG-style inserts with an insert seat size of 4. Compatible toolholder reference is NG4250R/L per the manufacturer designation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert, as debris under the insert can cause deflection or edge chipping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw; do not over-torque.
