The KENNAMETAL 1113561 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This uncoated, bright-finish insert carries a K68 grade designation and a C3 material grade, making it well suited for machining cast iron, hardened materials, and abrasive non-ferrous workpieces where edge wear resistance is the primary concern. The cutting geometry is right-hand orientation with a neutral rake profile. Cutting width is 0.125 inches (3.18 mm) and the maximum depth of cut is 0.110 inches (2.79 mm). The corner radius measures 0.0075 inches (0.19 mm) and the included angle is 55 degrees, producing a sharp, stable cutting edge for precision groove profiles.
This insert is intended for use in residential and industrial machine shops running production turning or tool-room work. It seats into compatible Top Notch series toolholders commonly found on engine lathes, CNC turning centers, and Swiss-style screw machines. Typical applications include narrow groove cutting, undercut operations, and parting-off on cast iron, ceramics, and similar abrasive materials where an uncoated carbide edge outperforms coated alternatives. Grooving inserts must be seated and clamped by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure before any machine operation begins.
