The KENNAMETAL 1113514 is a carbide threading insert designed for precise thread-form cutting in both internal and external applications. Manufactured in the K68 grade with a bright, uncoated finish, this insert suits operations where coating interference is undesirable or where the base carbide material grade C3 provides sufficient wear resistance. The partial profile 60-degree thread form covers a broad pitch range, handling external pitches from 1.25 to 4.00 mm (6 to 20 TPI) and internal pitches from 2.00 to 5.00 mm (5 to 12 TPI). It is a right-hand insert belonging to the Top Notch series and is sized as Insert Size 3. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert on compatible Top Notch threading toolholders for lathe-based thread turning operations.
This insert is used in single-point threading operations on CNC and manual lathes for cutting V-form threads at a 60-degree included angle. The partial profile design allows one insert to cover multiple pitches within its rated range, reducing tooling inventory requirements. Typical applications include threading mild steel, cast iron, and similar C3-grade materials in general metalworking, job shop, and production environments. Both external thread turning and internal thread boring applications are supported.
Designed for use with Top Notch series threading toolholders that accept Insert Size 3 NTP-style inserts. No specific model numbers were provided in the product data.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Ensure the insert is fully seated in the toolholder pocket and that the clamping screw is tightened to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before beginning any threading pass. Verify thread pitch and hand selection against the workpiece drawing prior to cutting.
