The KENNAMETAL 1113510 is a carbide threading insert in the Top Notch series, designed for cutting both internal and external threads on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built to an NTP2L insert style with a K68 manufacturer grade and C3 material grade, this uncoated carbide insert covers a partial profile 60-degree thread form. It handles external pitches from 0.70 to 3.00 mm (8 to 36 TPI) and internal pitches from 1.25 to 3.50 mm (7 to 20 TPI). The left-hand configuration suits specialized threading operations where conventional right-hand inserts cannot be applied. Machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops install this insert into compatible Top Notch toolholders for high-accuracy thread generation.
This insert is used in general machining environments where 60-degree unified or metric thread forms are required. Its uncoated bright finish makes it well suited for non-ferrous metals and materials where coated grades may not be preferred. The partial profile design allows a single insert to cut a range of thread pitches without requiring a dedicated insert per pitch, reducing tooling inventory. It is appropriate for both production and job-shop threading applications on lathes equipped with Top Notch series toolholders.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL Top Notch series threading toolholders that accept NTP2L style inserts with an insert size 2 designation.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the lathe spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified for the Top Notch toolholder to ensure proper seating and prevent insert movement during cutting. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination in the pocket can cause premature edge failure or poor thread accuracy.
