The KENNAMETAL 1113056 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TiN (titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, which enhances surface hardness and wear resistance during interrupted or continuous grooving cuts. The insert delivers a cutting width of 3.96 mm (0.1559 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm (0.1500 inches). With a neutral rake geometry and a 0.19 mm corner radius, it is suited for general-purpose grooving on steel, cast iron, and nonferrous workpieces. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users of this insert.
The 1113056 insert is intended for use in Top Notch series grooving toolholders that accept NG-style inserts of size 3156. It is configured for right-hand cutting orientation and carries a 55-degree included angle with a 3-degree lead angle. The KC730 grade with PVD TiN finish makes it appropriate for machining material grades C2, C3, and C4, covering a broad range of steels and cast irons in both light and moderate interrupted-cut applications. This insert is sold individually and requires a minimum order quantity of 5 units per purchase.
Designed for use with Top Notch series grooving toolholders that accept NG3156-style inserts. Compatible with material grades C2, C3, and C4. The MSC/Manufacturer cross-reference number for this insert is NG3156R/L.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidance for Top Notch series holders. Inspect the insert for chipping or wear at regular intervals and replace before catastrophic failure to protect the toolholder pocket.
