The KENNAMETAL 1112952 is a carbide threading insert designed for precision thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and manual turning equipment. Manufactured in the NT3R style within the Top Notch series, it carries a Titanium Nitride (TiN) finish applied through a PVD coating process. The insert handles both internal and external threading with a partial profile 60-degree thread standard, covering an external pitch range of 1.25 to 4.00 mm (6 to 20 TPI) and an internal pitch range of 2.00 to 5.00 mm (5 to 12 TPI). It is suited for right-hand threading applications across material grades C2, C3, and C4. Machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for consistent thread geometry and repeatable tool life in production and jobshop environments.
This insert is intended for use in turning centers and engine lathes equipped with Top Notch series toolholders. It is appropriate for threading operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials falling within the C2 through C4 material grade classifications. Typical applications include external and internal thread profiles on shafts, couplings, pipe fittings, and threaded fastener components. The right-hand configuration suits the majority of conventional turning setups. The 60-degree included angle covers Unified, Metric, and other standard thread forms in a partial profile format, making it versatile across a range of thread pitches without requiring a dedicated insert for each pitch.

Threading inserts of this type are installed and indexed by licensed machinists or qualified CNC setup personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing any insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping force — do not overtighten by feel alone. Verify insert orientation and toolholder alignment before initiating any threading pass to prevent tool crash or thread-form error.
