The KENNAMETAL 1112943 is a carbide threading insert in the Top Notch series, finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating applied via PVD process. Designated insert style NTF with a left-hand orientation, it cuts partial profile 60-degree threads on both internal and external applications. The KC730 grade targets a broad material grade range of C2, C3, and C4, making it suitable for threading a wide variety of workpiece materials. External pitch range covers 0.60 to 2.50 mm and 10 to 44 TPI. Internal pitch range covers 1.00 to 2.50 mm and 9 to 24 TPI. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in production or job-shop environments will recognize this insert as a standard Top Notch-compatible tool.
This insert is suited for lathe and turning center threading operations where a partial profile 60-degree thread form is required. It handles both internal and external threading passes in a single insert style, reducing tooling inventory for shops running mixed thread-cutting operations. The left-hand designation means it is intended for left-hand thread cutting or specific toolholder orientations that require a left-hand insert. Typical applications include threading on ferrous and non-ferrous metals across the C2 through C4 material grades.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders that accept size 3 NTF-style threading inserts. Verify toolholder hand and insert seating requirements before installation.
Threading inserts should be installed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a de-energized and locked-out state before insert changeout. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the Top Notch toolholder to avoid insert rocking or premature failure. Confirm insert hand orientation matches the toolholder hand before beginning any threading cycle.
