The KENNAMETAL 1097512 is a right-hand external indexable profiling toolholder built for precision turning and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the Top Notch series, it features a negative rake geometry and a clamp-style insert holding method that delivers secure, repeatable insert seating under high cutting loads. The steel shank measures 0.75 inches square and the toolholder has an overall length of 4.5 inches, making it a compact, rigid option for general-purpose external profiling work. It accepts NP-style inserts and is compatible with the NPR.. 132 complete insert family. This toolholder is installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This toolholder is suited for external profiling applications on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both production and short-run turning operations. The -5 degree lead angle and NKLN-style geometry support contour turning and finishing passes where controlled chip flow and insert stability are critical. It is sized for standard toolholder blocks and gang-style turrets that accept 0.75 inch square shank tooling. No coolant-through feature is present, so external flood or mist coolant delivery is appropriate for this holder.
Designed for use with NP-style inserts; complete insert compatibility confirmed for the NPR.. 132 insert series. Compatible insert size code NP.. as specified by KENNAMETAL for the Top Notch series. Fits standard 0.75 inch square shank toolholder pockets on CNC lathes and turning centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or indexing inserts. Seat the shank fully into the turret pocket and torque the clamping screws to the machine and toolholder manufacturer specifications using calibrated tooling. Inspect insert seating and clamp integrity before resuming cutting operations.
