The KENNAMETAL 1096301 is a left-hand MVJN-style negative rake indexable turning toolholder designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built on the Kenloc series platform, it accepts VN..33. (VN.. 332) style inserts secured by a combination clamp and screw holding method for rigid, repeatable insert positioning. The steel shank measures 1.25 inches wide by 1.25 inches tall with an overall length of 6 inches. A 3-degree lead angle geometry directs cutting forces efficiently and supports stable chip formation. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling ferrous and non-ferrous turning applications will find this holder suited for production and job-shop environments alike.
This toolholder is intended for external turning on engine lathes and CNC turning centers where a left-hand cut direction is required. The MVJN style positions the insert at a negative rake angle, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials where edge strength is a priority. The 1.25-inch square shank fits standard tool post and turret positions designed for that shank size. No coolant-through capability is present, so this holder relies on flood or mist coolant applied externally when required.
Designed to accept VN..33. style inserts, with complete insert compatibility listed as VN.. 332. Verify insert corner radius, relief angle, and chip-breaker designation against the insert suffix before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret or tool post. Torque the insert clamp screw and toolholder mounting fasteners to the machine or toolholder manufacturer specifications found in the applicable Kennametal documentation — do not estimate fastener torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamp contact surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
