The KENNAMETAL 1096295 is a left-hand MVJN-style indexable turning toolholder built for negative rake external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Part of the Kenloc series, it features a 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch shank and an overall length of 4.5 inches. The holder accepts VN..33. series inserts secured by a combination clamp and screw system, providing rigid insert retention under interrupted cuts and heavy feeds. It is manufactured from steel for durability in production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities are the primary users of this holder.
This toolholder is suited for external turning applications in both light production and high-volume machining environments. The left-hand orientation positions it for specific turning directions on CNC lathes and turret setups where a right-hand holder would conflict with the cut path or part geometry. The 3-degree lead angle geometry influences chip flow and cutting edge engagement. Compatible insert inscribed circle is 3/8 inch, making it appropriate for moderate-depth finishing and semi-finishing passes on steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials.
Designed for use with VN..33. series indexable inserts (complete compatibility designation VN.. 332) with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Verify turret pocket size matches the 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch shank dimensions before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine powered down and all axis motion disabled. Ensure the turret pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the holder to maintain proper centerline height. Torque insert clamping hardware according to the insert manufacturer's recommendations using calibrated tooling. Confirm insert orientation and lead angle direction relative to the programmed tool path before resuming cutting operations.
