The KENNAMETAL 1096142 is an MCMNN-style indexable turning toolholder from the Kenloc series, designed for use with negative-rake CN-style inserts secured by a clamp and screw holding method. The toolholder features a neutral hand orientation and accepts CN inserts with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle. Built from steel, it offers a 3/4 x 3/4 inch shank cross-section and an overall length of 4.5 inches. It is intended for metalcutting lathe operations and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC or manual turning centers where repeatable insert indexing and rigid clamping are required.
This toolholder is suited for external turning applications on CNC lathes and manual engine lathes in production machining, toolroom, and job-shop environments. The MCMNN configuration provides a neutral cutting approach, making it adaptable to straight turning, facing, and shoulder work. The Kenloc clamping system locks the CN insert firmly, reducing movement under interrupted cuts and heavy feeds. No coolant-through capability is present, so external flood or mist coolant delivery is standard practice with this holder.
Designed for use with CN.. 432 negative-rake inserts. The MCMNN124B toolholder style accepts inserts matching the CN.. 43. compatibility designation. No additional model-specific machine compatibility data was provided in the product input.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before changing or indexing inserts, disengage the machine spindle, engage the E-stop, and follow the machine tool lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to tighten the clamp screw to the insert seat — refer to the Kennametal toolholder documentation for fastener specifications. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
