The KENNAMETAL 1096069 is a right-hand MCLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Part of the Kenloc series, it features a clamp-and-screw insert holding method that provides rigid, repeatable clamping of CN..32. series inserts. The toolholder has a 1 inch by 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 6 inches, making it well-suited for standard-size tool posts and quick-change turrets. Steel construction delivers the rigidity and durability required for interrupted cuts and continuous turning in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers and users of this toolholder.
This toolholder is applied in external turning operations where a right-hand cutting direction and negative-rake insert geometry are specified. The 5-degree lead angle promotes chip control and reduces entry shock on workpiece engagement. A back-of-bar to cutting edge measurement of 1.25 inches and a head length of 1 inch position the insert correctly relative to the workpiece centerline. It is appropriate for both production shops and job shops running CN..32. series inserts on materials including steel, cast iron, and similar machinable alloys. No coolant-through capability is included in this holder.
Designed to accept CN..32. series indexable inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. The complete insert compatibility designation is CN.. 322. The manufacturers catalog number for this holder is MCLNR163D.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Before changing or indexing inserts, power down and lock out the machine spindle per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Secure the shank fully within the tool post or turret pocket to the required clamping torque specified by the machine manufacturer. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
