The KENNAMETAL 1095990 is a left-hand MWLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Part of the Kennametal Kenloc series, it accepts WN..43. inserts secured by a clamp and screw holding method, providing rigid, repeatable insert location under heavy cutting loads. The toolholder features a 5-degree lead angle and a negative 5-degree rake angle, making it well suited for interrupted cuts, hard materials, and applications where insert edge strength is the priority. Manufactured from steel, it delivers the rigidity machinists expect in production turning environments.
This toolholder is intended for use in metal-cutting operations where a left-hand tool path is required, such as turning toward the tailstock or machining specific shoulder geometries. It fits standard square-shank tool posts and turrets sized for 1-1/4 inch shank tooling. Typical users include CNC lathe operators, manual lathe machinists, and toolroom technicians working in job shops, production facilities, and aerospace or industrial component manufacturing environments. Coolant-through capability is not available on this holder.
Designed to accept WN..43. series inserts, specifically the WN.. 432 insert family with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Fits standard square-shank tool posts and turrets accommodating 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all stored energy is released before mounting or changing toolholders. Secure the shank fully within the tool post or turret to the recommended clamping depth to prevent deflection under cutting forces. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool height and offset values.
