The KENNAMETAL 1094912 is a left-hand indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built on the Top Notch platform, it uses a clamp-style insert holding method compatible with N-style inserts and features a 3-degree lead angle for controlled cutting geometry. The shank diameter is 1 inch (25.40 mm) with an overall length of 12 inches (304.80 mm). A minimum bore diameter of 2.25 inches (57.15 mm) defines the smallest bore this bar can enter. Coolant-through capability is included, with a coolant hole diameter of 0.25 inches, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in deep-bore applications. The body is constructed from steel.
This boring bar is suited for job shop and production machining environments where left-hand internal boring is required. It fits standard lathe turrets and boring bar holders that accept 1-inch round shank tooling. Typical applications include roughing and finishing of through-bores and blind bores in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The Top Notch insert system allows for quick insert indexing without removing the bar from the holder, reducing downtime during production runs. Machinists and CNC setup technicians working in aerospace, general manufacturing, and moldmaking will find this bar well-suited to their boring requirements.
Designed for use with N-style Top Notch inserts. Accepts 1-inch round shank boring bar holders. Minimum bore diameter of 2.25 inches defines the smallest compatible bore opening.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before mounting or adjusting the boring bar. Secure the shank firmly in the boring bar holder to the holder manufacturer's specified clamping torque using appropriate tooling wrenches. Verify tool offset and center height before initiating a cutting pass to avoid tool interference or workpiece damage.
