The KENNAMETAL 1094882 is a steel indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built on the Kendex series platform, it accepts TP-style inserts held by a clamp-style insert holding method and features a positive rake angle of 5 degrees for reduced cutting forces. The 1-1/4 inch shank diameter and 14 inch overall length provide the reach and rigidity needed for deep-bore applications. A built-in coolant-through channel with a 1/4-18 NPT coolant hole thread delivers cutting fluid directly to the insert for improved chip evacuation and tool life.
This boring bar is suited for right-hand cut internal boring in production and job-shop environments. With a minimum bore diameter of 1.470 inches (37.34 mm), it handles medium to large bore diameters in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. It is a single-purpose toolholder and is not designed as a multi-use tool. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish boring passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. The coolant-through capability makes it well suited for deep-bore conditions where flood coolant cannot reach the cut zone effectively.
Designed for use with TP-style indexable inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 1/8 inch thickness. Toolholder style is A-CTFP (Kendex series). Verify insert geometry and grade selection against the workpiece material and operation type before installation.
This toolholder should be installed and set up by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank in a compatible boring bar holder or turret pocket, ensuring the shank is clamped to the tool manufacturer minimum engagement length before cutting. Confirm the coolant-through port is connected to the machine coolant supply at the correct pressure before initiating the cut. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or damage before each insert change, and use the correct torque wrench for clamp screws as specified by the insert manufacturer documentation.
