The KENNAMETAL 1094847 is a steel indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning operations on CNC lathes and boring machines. It carries a toolholder style designation of A-NE and is configured for right-hand cutting with a 3-degree lead angle. The shank diameter is 1.75 inches, the minimum bore diameter is 2.5 inches (63.5 mm), and the overall length is 14 inches (355.6 mm). Insert retention is handled by a clamp-style holding method, and the bar accepts N-style inserts from the Top Notch series. A built-in coolant-through port with a 1/4-18 NPT thread delivers cutting fluid directly to the tool tip for improved chip evacuation and extended insert life.
This boring bar is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent bore geometry and finish quality are required. It is typically used in ferrous and non-ferrous metal cutting applications involving medium to large bore diameters. The right-hand configuration and Top Notch N-style insert system make it a practical choice for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running high-volume internal turning operations on horizontal or vertical turning centers.
Designed for use with Top Notch series N-style inserts. Compatible with boring bar holders and turrets accepting a 1.75-inch round shank. Insert selection should be confirmed against the KENNAMETAL Top Notch catalog for grade and geometry options appropriate to the workpiece material.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended overhang for the bore depth, and torque all clamping screws per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before initiating a cut. Connect the coolant-through supply line to the 1/4-18 NPT port using appropriate fittings rated for the machine coolant pressure. Always index or replace inserts with the machine in a safe, locked-out state and inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
