The KENNAMETAL 1094831 is a steel indexable boring bar from the Top Notch series, designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It accepts N-style inserts held in place by a clamp-style insert retention method, providing secure and repeatable insert indexing. The bar features a 0.75 inch shank diameter, a 10 inch overall length, and a 1.125 inch minimum bore diameter, making it suitable for medium to large internal bore applications. A built-in coolant-through port with a 1/8-27 NPT coolant hole thread supports directed coolant delivery to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life.
This boring bar is intended for metalworking and machining environments where precise internal diameter work is required. It is a right-hand cut toolholder with a 3-degree lead angle and an A-NE toolholder style, fitting standard lathe tool blocks and turrets commonly found in production and job shop settings. The coolant-through design makes it well suited for deep boring passes where chip control and heat management are critical. Machinists and CNC operators working with steel, cast iron, and similar materials will find this bar appropriate for general-purpose internal turning work.
Designed to accept N-style inserts within the Top Notch series system. Compatible with standard lathe and turning center tool blocks accepting a 0.75 inch round shank boring bar.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret or tool block is locked before mounting or removing the boring bar. Confirm insert seating and clamp torque per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines before taking a cut. Connect the coolant line to the 1/8-27 NPT port using appropriate fittings and verify coolant flow before beginning a deep boring pass.
