The KENNAMETAL 1094705 is a steel indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It carries the toolholder style designation A-SWLP and accepts WP-series indexable inserts secured by a screw clamping method. The right-hand cutting configuration and neutral rake geometry suit a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous boring applications. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.321 inches (8.15 mm) and an overall length of 4.0 inches (101.6 mm), this bar is built for small-diameter precision boring work. A coolant-through capability with a 0.078-inch coolant hole supports chip evacuation and tool life in deep-bore conditions.
This boring bar is intended for machine shop environments where small internal bores require consistent dimensional accuracy. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard toolpost and block-style holders common on small to mid-size CNC and manual turning equipment. The -5 degree lead angle influences chip direction and entry geometry at the cutting zone. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary users. Maximum bore depth reaches 1.25 inches, making it suitable for short to medium blind and through-bore features on turned components.
Designed for use with WP-series indexable inserts featuring a 3/16-inch inscribed circle and 5/64-inch insert thickness. Insert holding method is screw-type. Toolholder style is A-SWLP.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state before any tooling change. The shank must be clamped securely in a properly sized boring bar holder or tool block — do not extend the bar beyond the recommended overhang ratio for the shank diameter. Verify insert seating and screw torque per the insert manufacturer's guidelines before taking a cut. Confirm coolant-through connection is engaged if using the through-coolant feature.
