The KENNAMETAL 1094676 is a steel-body indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It uses screw-clamped CP-style inserts and delivers a left-hand cut with a neutral rake and a -5 degree lead angle. The shank diameter is 5/8 inch (15.88 mm) and the overall length is 10 inches (254 mm), making it suited to moderate-depth bores. The minimum bore diameter is 0.770 inch (19.56 mm). The toolholder accepts coolant-through delivery via a 1/8-27 NPT coolant port, supporting chip evacuation in blind and through-bore applications. This tool is installed and set up by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This boring bar is used in turning center and manual lathe applications where left-hand internal boring is required. The A-SCLP toolholder style positions the insert at a -5 degree lead angle with a neutral rake, producing a geometry suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. The coolant-through capability makes it appropriate for deeper bore work where flood coolant alone may not reach the cutting zone effectively. Typical applications include bore sizing, diameter cleanup, and internal profile work on chucked or bar-fed parts.
Designed for use with CP-style indexable inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 5/32 inch thickness. Consult KENNAMETAL insert selection guides for specific grade and geometry recommendations compatible with this toolholder style.
Install this boring bar in a tool turret or boring bar holder sized for a 5/8 inch shank, ensuring the bar is clamped square and at center height before cutting. Verify insert seating and tighten the clamping screw to the insert manufacturer's specified torque using the correct Torx or hex key. Connect the coolant-through supply if the machine tool supports it and confirm the 1/8-27 NPT fitting is sealed before pressurizing the coolant circuit. Follow shop lock-out procedures before making any tooling changes at the turret or spindle.
