The KENNAMETAL 1094657 is an indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built to toolholder style A-STFP, this right-hand-cut bar features a 5/8-inch (15.88 mm) shank diameter and an overall length of 10 inches (254 mm). The minimum bore diameter is 0.770 inches (19.56 mm), making it suited for relatively tight bores. The body is constructed from steel and uses a screw-type insert holding method. Coolant-through capability is supported via a 1/8-27 NPT coolant hole, keeping the cutting zone clear during deep bore passes. It accepts TP-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch thickness.
This boring bar is intended for shops and machinists performing precision internal diameter work where a compact, rigid toolholder is required. The neutral rake geometry (0-degree rake angle) offers versatility across a range of work materials. It is suited for applications in job shops, production turning cells, and maintenance machining environments where consistent bore quality and repeatable insert indexing are priorities. The A10 designation indicates compatibility with standard tool turret and block holders commonly used on gang-style and turret lathes.
Designed for use with TP-style inserts featuring a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch thickness, following toolholder style A-STFP. Confirm insert geometry and grade selection based on workpiece material and cutting parameters.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Ensure the shank is clamped securely in the tool block or turret to the full recommended engagement depth to minimize overhang and vibration. Do not exceed the minimum bore diameter of 0.770 inches to avoid tool interference with the bore wall.
