The KENNAMETAL 1094409 is a right-hand indexable turning toolholder in the STFC style, designed for use with TC-style triangular inserts held in place by a screw clamping method. The toolholder features a square 3/8 x 3/8 inch shank and an overall length of 2.5 inches, making it well suited for compact turning operations where rigidity and insert stability are critical. Manufactured from steel with a neutral rake geometry at 0 degrees, it delivers consistent cutting geometry across a range of turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators typically specify this holder when running TC-style inserts on small- to medium-bore external turning setups.
This toolholder is intended for use on CNC and manual lathes performing external turning operations. The STFC holder style is a standard configuration found in production turning, facing, and light profiling work. With a 1/4-inch insert inscribed circle and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 0.5 inches, this holder positions the insert precisely for consistent depth-of-cut control. It does not include coolant-through capability, so it is best suited for applications where external coolant delivery is sufficient. The screw-on series design allows for fast, repeatable insert indexing without the need for additional clamping hardware.
Designed for use with TC-style triangular inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle (complete insert compatibility designation: TC.. 2151). Verify insert pocket geometry and screw size before substituting inserts from other manufacturers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with lathe tooling setup. Ensure the lathe spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or adjusting the toolholder in the turret or tool post. Torque the insert clamping screw to the insert manufacturer's specified value using the correct Torx or hex key — do not overtighten. Confirm tool centerline height relative to the spindle axis before taking the first cut.
