The KENNAMETAL 1021496 is an ER20 collet chuck with a straight shank, designed for precision workholding in CNC machining centers and milling applications. It accepts ER20 collets with a capacity range of 0.51 mm to 12.70 mm (0.020 to 0.500 inches), making it suitable for a wide range of cutting tool shank diameters. The chuck features through-coolant delivery via a through-spindle coolant path and holds a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.0025 mm (0.0001 inches), supporting tight-tolerance machining operations. A 1-inch straight shank provides straightforward spindle mounting. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This ER20 collet chuck is suited for use in production and job-shop environments running CNC mills, machining centers, or drill-tap machines equipped with compatible straight-shank spindle interfaces. The 1.75-inch projection and 7-inch overall length position the cutting tool at a predictable gage length for programming and setup. The wrench-actuated collet nut allows secure tool clamping with standard ER collet wrenches. Through-spindle coolant capability supports flood or high-pressure coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous machining.
Designed for use with ER20 series collets in CNC machining centers and milling machines equipped with a 1-inch straight-shank spindle interface. Accepts standard ER20 collets within the rated capacity range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Use the correct ER20 collet wrench and spanner to tighten the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended procedure — do not use impact tools on the collet nut. Verify TIR with a dial indicator after mounting before beginning production cuts. Confirm through-coolant fittings and spindle coolant ports are clear and properly connected before enabling coolant flow.
