The KENNAMETAL 1013378 is a CAT40 taper shank end mill holder designed for use on CNC machining centers equipped with CAT40 spindles. The holder accepts a 7/8 inch bore and provides a 1.75 inch projection from the gauge line to the tool nose, allowing for controlled reach in tight-clearance applications. A through-coolant design routes coolant directly to the cutting zone, supporting extended tool life and chip evacuation during high-speed milling operations. The holder is balanced to 12,000 RPM and features a 5/8-11 drawbar thread. It weighs 2.38 pounds and is sold individually. Machining centers, tool crib technicians, and CNC setup personnel are the primary users of this holder.
This end mill holder is suited for vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers running CAT40 tooling systems in both production and job-shop environments. The 1.75 inch projection and 1-7/8 inch nose diameter make it appropriate for standard end mill lengths in face milling, slotting, and profiling operations. The through-coolant feature makes it particularly useful in applications involving deep pockets, hard materials, or high material removal rates where directed coolant flow is required for thermal management and chip control.
Designed for use with CAT40 spindle tooling systems on CNC machining centers equipped with through-spindle coolant capability and a 5/8-11 drawbar. Accepts 7/8 inch shank cutting tools.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified CNC tooling or machine setup personnel with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per site lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate pull stud and torque the drawbar to the machine manufacturer's specification — do not estimate drawbar retention by feel. Verify through-coolant passages are clear before use and confirm the holder seats fully in the spindle taper before engaging the retention mechanism.
