The JONES STEPHENS G60-000 is a straight pigtail siphon designed to protect pressure gauges installed on steam lines. The siphon creates a water seal between the steam and the gauge internals, preventing live steam from contacting the gauge mechanism and extending instrument service life. Constructed of steel, the G60-000 uses 1/4-inch male threaded (MPT) connections on both ends and installs inline between the steam piping and the gauge. This fitting is a standard component in heating system gauge installations handled by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians.
This pigtail siphon is suited for residential and light commercial heating applications where steam pressure gauges require protection from direct steam contact. The straight body pattern allows for straightforward inline installation on steam mains, risers, or gauge tappings where a coiled siphon is not required. The 1/4-inch MPT x 1/4-inch MPT configuration matches the most common gauge inlet and pipe tapping sizes found in steam heating systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for steam heating systems requiring gauge protection via a straight pigtail siphon with 1/4-inch male threaded connections.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or steam fitter. Shut down the boiler and relieve system pressure completely before removing or installing any gauge fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant to the MPT threads before assembly. Verify that the siphon is filled with water before placing the system back into service to ensure the condensate seal is established prior to steam exposure.
