The JONES STEPHENS f76170 is a lead-free DZR brass cold expansion fitting designed for use with PEX-A piping systems. It forms precise, secure, leak-free connections using the F1960 cold expansion method, which expands the pipe end before the fitting is inserted and the pipe contracts back to create a tight mechanical joint. DZR (dezincification-resistant) brass construction gives this fitting strong resistance to corrosion and to chlorine and chemical degradation, making it suitable for aggressive water environments. Licensed plumbers and PEX installation contractors are the primary installers. End connections include expansion PEX and sweat configurations.
This fitting is intended for residential and commercial plumbing applications where PEX-A tubing is the pipe material of choice. The cold expansion method is common in new construction and remodel projects where reliable long-term performance in potable water distribution systems is required. Its compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act requirements and lead-free construction make it appropriate for domestic hot and cold water supply lines. It is listed with IAPMO and meets cUPC listing standards.
Designed for use with PEX-A piping per ASTM F1960-2021. Approved for potable water distribution applications in systems requiring lead-free, cold expansion brass fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before beginning work. Cold expansion installation requires an F1960-compatible expansion tool sized to the pipe diameter being used. Do not use this fitting with PEX-B or PEX-C pipe, as the F1960 cold expansion method is specific to PEX-A tubing.
