The Johnson Controls M9116-GGA-2 is an electric non-spring return actuator designed for modulating control of dampers and valves in commercial and industrial HVAC systems. It accepts a DC 0-10V analog control signal and operates on a 24 VAC supply at 6.5 VA. With a rated torque output of 140 in-lb, this actuator handles medium-to-large damper applications where precise, proportional positioning is required. No auxiliary switch is included. Licensed HVAC mechanics and building automation technicians are the primary installers for this class of device.
This actuator is suited for variable air volume (VAV) systems, air handling units, and commercial zoning applications where non-spring return, fail-in-place operation is acceptable. The DC 0-10V analog input makes it compatible with direct digital control (DDC) systems and building automation controllers that output a standard analog voltage signal. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit HVAC projects where modulating damper or valve control is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation actuator for commercial HVAC damper and valve applications requiring a 24 VAC, DC 0-10V analog non-spring return actuator with 140 in-lb torque.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or building automation controls specialist. De-energize the control panel and disconnect the 24 VAC transformer circuit before wiring or mounting the actuator. Follow applicable mechanical and electrical codes, including NEC low-voltage wiring requirements, and verify that the actuator torque rating is sufficient for the damper or valve being driven before final commissioning. Do not force the actuator shaft manually, as internal gear damage may result.
