The JOHNS MANVILLE DW-48X75X2.2F-75 is a blanket-type duct wrap insulation engineered for thermal and acoustical performance on HVAC ductwork. Made from glass fibers bonded with a formaldehyde-free white resin, it delivers lightweight, highly resilient insulation without the off-gassing concerns associated with traditional resin binders. This roll measures 48 inches wide by 75 feet long at a thickness of 2.333 inches and comes pre-faced with an FSK (foil-scrim-kraft) vapor barrier. A 2-inch stapling tab is integrated into the facing for clean, fast mechanical fastening during installation. Licensed HVAC contractors and sheet metal mechanics install this product on exterior duct surfaces in both new construction and retrofit applications.
This duct wrap is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC systems where exterior duct insulation is required. It is applied to the outside of supply and return air ducts routed through unconditioned spaces such as attics, crawlspaces, and mechanical rooms. The FSK facing serves as both a vapor retarder and a protective jacket, making it appropriate for spaces with elevated ambient humidity. The formaldehyde-free resin formulation makes it suitable for projects with indoor air quality requirements or green building specifications. Typical installations involve wrapping rectangular or round sheet metal ductwork prior to final sealing and securing of the facing seams.
Designed as an OEM-style blanket wrap for the exterior of rectangular and round sheet metal HVAC ductwork in residential and light commercial systems where thermal insulation and vapor control are required.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal mechanics in accordance with SMACNA guidelines and applicable local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling system before working on or around duct sections. Secure the FSK facing with mechanical staples through the stapling tab and seal all laps and seams with listed FSK tape to maintain the vapor barrier integrity. Avoid compressing the insulation below its rated thickness, as compression reduces thermal performance.
