It connects two copper pipes or tubes using sweat (solder) joints on both ends, making it a standard C x C connection. Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician familiar with sweat-soldering copper fittings. Shut off and drain the affected piping system before cutting or fitting. Clean all pipe ends and fitting cups with emery cloth or a pipe cleaning brush, apply flux, and solder per applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM B828 practices. Do not apply heat to fittings while the system is pressurized or while flammable materials are present nearby.
