The JET-LUBE 11815 is a tool joint compound formulated for oilfield drill string make-up and break-out operations. Known as JLS, this compound contains premium-grade copper flake, amorphous graphite, rust and corrosion inhibitors, and additional inorganic solids. It is blended in a grease base derived from custom-refined, low-sulfur petroleum oil using an aluminum complex thickener. The result is a product that brushes on smoothly across a wide temperature range, adheres tenaciously to threaded surfaces, resists water washout, and actively prevents rust and corrosion on tool joint connections. Sold in a 5-gallon container.
This compound is intended for use on oilfield drill string tool joints during make-up and break-out procedures. The controlled friction factor of 1.0 per API RP-7G makes it suitable for calculating accurate makeup torque on rotary shouldered connections. It is applied directly to tool joint threads and shoulders by field personnel and rig crews working on drilling operations. The wide-temperature brushability ensures reliable application in both cold and warm field conditions without thinning or stiffening the compound before it sets on the surface.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and field-use compound for oilfield drill string tool joints conforming to API RP-7G rotary shouldered connection specifications.
Tool joint compound is applied by licensed or trained rig personnel as part of standard drill string make-up procedures. Clean and inspect threads and shoulders before application. Apply compound evenly to all thread surfaces and the connection shoulder using a brush, then make up to the torque value derived from API RP-7G charts using the stated friction factor. Do not mix with compounds of differing friction factors, as this will produce inaccurate torque calculations and risk connection failure.
