The JET 578208 is a heavy-duty bench grinder built for continuous industrial use. It runs on a 1 hp motor at up to 3,600 RPM with variable speed control, giving technicians and machinists the ability to match wheel speed to the task. The 8-inch wheel diameter and 1-inch wheel thickness handle aggressive stock removal as well as fine sharpening work. Power comes from a 115-volt, three-phase supply, making this unit suited for shop environments with three-phase infrastructure. Two grinding wheels are included out of the box: a 36-grit wheel for shaping and a 60-grit wheel for finishing. Wheel guards are factory-installed for operator protection.
The JET 578208 is intended for industrial shop environments where consistent, high-volume grinding is required. Typical applications include tool sharpening, deburring, shaping, and surface dressing of metal workpieces. The variable speed setting allows operators to adjust surface footage to suit different wheel types and materials. The 6-foot cord provides adequate reach from a standard bench-mount position. At 66 pounds, the unit provides enough mass to minimize vibration during operation. This grinder is appropriate for metal fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and industrial production environments.
Designed for industrial bench-mount applications requiring 8-inch diameter, 1-inch wide grinding wheels with a 5/8-inch arbor hole on a three-phase, 115-volt circuit.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician familiar with three-phase wiring requirements and applicable NEC guidelines. Secure the grinder firmly to a stable bench surface before operation to prevent movement under load. Disconnect and lock out all power at the source before changing wheels or performing any service. Inspect wheel guards and wheel integrity before each use in accordance with ANSI B7.1 safe-use standards for abrasive wheels.
