The JET 321615 is a heavy-duty engine lathe configured with a 300S digital readout (DRO), taper attachment, and collet closer. It is based on the GH-2280ZX platform, a gear-head lathe designed for precision metalworking operations including turning, facing, threading, and taper work. The integrated DRO provides real-time positional feedback, reducing setup time and improving dimensional accuracy on repetitive cuts. The collet closer enables fast, repeatable workholding without a chuck change. This unit is intended for installation and operation by machinists in job shops, maintenance facilities, and industrial production environments. At 7,600 pounds, it requires heavy-equipment rigging for placement.
The GH-2280ZX configuration is suited for demanding production and toolroom applications where a full-featured gear-head lathe with electronic position readout is required. The taper attachment extends the machine's capability to cut external and internal tapers without offsetting the tailstock. The collet closer supports high-volume repetitive work on bar stock. This combination makes the 321615 appropriate for facilities that perform a wide range of turning operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed as a complete machine tool assembly for the JET GH-2280ZX engine lathe platform. Compatible accessories and tooling are those specified for the GH-2280ZX series. Consult the machine documentation for spindle nose type and collet series supported by the included collet closer.
Installation must be performed by qualified millwrights or heavy-equipment riggers due to the 7,600-pound machine weight. The lathe must be anchored to a reinforced concrete floor in accordance with the manufacturer's foundation requirements and applicable local codes before operation. Electrical connection should be performed by a licensed electrician to the voltage and phase specifications listed in the machine documentation. Power must be fully isolated and locked out before any service, adjustment, or tooling changes are performed.
