The JET 321131 is a geared head gap bed lathe with a factory-installed Newall C80 digital readout (DRO) system, designed for precision metal turning in professional machine shop and industrial environments. The C80 DRO provides real-time axis position readout, reducing setup time and improving dimensional accuracy on repetitive operations. Weighing 1,215 pounds, this is a floor-standing production machine intended for installation by qualified millwrights or experienced machine tool technicians. The gap bed design allows for turning of larger-diameter workpieces when the gap section is removed.
The GHB-1340A platform is suited to job shop, toolroom, and light production environments where consistent threading, facing, turning, and boring operations are required. The integrated Newall C80 DRO is factory-mounted at the time of manufacture, eliminating field installation of scales and readhead hardware. This configuration is appropriate for facilities that require a ready-to-run setup without sourcing and fitting aftermarket DRO components.
Designed as a complete OEM-configured machine tool unit based on the JET GHB-1340A lathe platform with the Newall C80 DRO system installed at the factory.
Installation requires a qualified millwright or machine tool technician and appropriate lifting equipment rated for a minimum of 1,215 pounds. The machine must be leveled on a reinforced concrete floor using a precision machinist level before operation. Electrical connection should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for the voltage and phase configuration of the unit. Verify all axis scales and DRO readheads are secure and undamaged after transport before powering on the system.
