The JERGENS 31615 is a pull out dowel pin designed for precision locating and alignment applications in machined assemblies. Manufactured from alloy steel with a threaded end, this pin allows controlled extraction using a standard slide hammer or threaded puller - a key advantage over solid dowels in blind-hole installations. The pin measures 3/8 inch in diameter with an overall length of 0.75 inches and holds a tight diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to 0.0001 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance fitment in production tooling, jigs, and fixtures. It conforms to ASME B18.8.2 standards. Installation and removal is handled by machinists, tool and die specialists, and precision assembly technicians.
Pull out dowel pins are used in applications where repeated disassembly is required and direct access to the pin head is limited or impossible. The threaded end accommodates a standard extraction tool, eliminating the need to drive the pin out from the opposite side. Typical installations include fixture plates, die sets, machine bases, and precision component assemblies in manufacturing and industrial environments. This pin is sold individually and is suited for both original builds and replacement of worn or damaged locating pins in existing assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-build component for precision jigs, fixtures, die sets, and machine assemblies requiring close-tolerance dowel locating with blind-hole or single-access extraction requirements.
Pull out dowel pins are typically installed and removed by machinists or tool and die technicians using a threaded slide hammer or extraction tool matched to the pin thread. Always de-energize and lock out any machine before servicing pins in active tooling or fixture plates. Ensure the receiving hole is reamed to the correct tolerance diameter before pressing the pin into place. Do not drive the pin with a hammer directly on the threaded end, as this will damage the extraction thread.
