The JERGENS 27106 is a short-body threaded spring plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and locking applications in industrial assemblies and fixtures. It features a 3/8-16 thread with an 11/16-inch thread length and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.186 inches. The steel body and steel nose provide durability in demanding shop environments. An integrated locking element locks the plunger in place after adjustment, preventing unintended movement caused by vibration or repeated cycling. Initial end force is 1.5 pounds and final end force is 7.5 pounds, giving assemblers and toolmakers a controlled, repeatable detent action. The black finish provides basic corrosion resistance for general indoor use.
This spring plunger suits applications in jigs, fixtures, machine tooling, and light industrial assemblies where a compact, threaded detent or positioning stop is required. The short plunger length type makes it appropriate for shallow-threaded bosses or tight-clearance installations. It is typically installed by tool and die makers, machine builders, or maintenance technicians working with positioning fixtures, slides, or indexing mechanisms. The 3/16-inch plunger projection keeps the nose profile low, which is useful where minimal standoff is needed.
Designed as a standard-thread replacement or new-installation spring plunger for jigs, fixtures, and industrial tooling assemblies that use a 3/8-16 tapped hole with a short-body plunger configuration.
Installation requires a properly tapped 3/8-16 threaded hole to the specified depth. Thread the plunger in using an appropriate hex key or drive tool rated for the body size. Engage the locking element fully after reaching the desired plunger projection to secure the assembly. Always de-energize or lock out any machine or fixture before servicing or replacing spring plunger components.
