The JERGENS 215-066523 is a thin wall keylocking thread locking insert designed to install a permanent, load-bearing internal thread in a parent material. It accepts a 5/16-24 UNF internal thread and installs via a 7/16-14 UNF external thread, with an overall length of 0.43 inches. Constructed from 303 stainless steel with a passivated finish, it resists corrosion in demanding service environments. The keylocking design uses keys that are driven into the parent material to lock the insert in place, preventing rotation under vibration or high torque loads. This insert is installed by licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and manufacturing professionals working in precision thread repair or original assembly applications.
This insert is suited for use in metal assemblies where a strong, thin-wall threaded insert is required and bore space is limited. The UNF thread form makes it appropriate for fine-thread applications common in aerospace, industrial equipment, and precision mechanical assemblies. Its compact 0.43-inch length fits shallow-boss applications where standard-length inserts would bottom out or require excessive material thickness.
Designed as an OEM-style thread locking insert for precision metal assemblies requiring a 5/16-24 UNF internal thread installed through a 7/16-14 UNF tapped hole.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using the appropriate keylocking insert installation tool to drive locking keys into the parent material after the insert is threaded in place. The parent material bore must be tapped to 7/16-14 UNF prior to installation. De-energize or lock out any associated equipment before performing thread repair or insert installation in operational assemblies. Follow the insert manufacturer's installation procedure for key-driving depth to ensure full locking engagement without damaging the parent material.
