The JERGENS 215-065971 is a heavy-duty keylocking thread insert designed to create a permanent, high-strength internal thread in metal parent materials. It accepts an M16 x 2 internal thread and installs into a prepared M22 x 1.5 tapped hole, with an overall length of 22 mm. Made from C1215 carbon steel with a zinc phosphate coating, this insert resists torque-out and pull-out forces that standard threaded inserts cannot handle. It meets NAS 1394 standards and carries a 6H internal thread class of fit and a 6G external thread class of fit. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics install these in production fixtures, heavy equipment, and structural assemblies where thread integrity is critical.
This keylocking insert is intended for use in metallic base materials where the parent thread has been damaged, upgraded for higher load capacity, or engineered from the start for removable fastener access. The metric coarse thread standard makes it suitable for European-spec machinery, import equipment, and any application calling for M16 x 2 threaded connections. It is commonly installed in steel and cast iron housings in industrial, aerospace-adjacent, and heavy manufacturing environments.
Designed for installation into metallic parent materials tapped to M22 x 1.5 to provide a permanent M16 x 2 internal thread. Verify parent material hardness and bore depth against NAS 1394 installation requirements before use.
Installation requires a properly tapped M22 x 1.5 bore and a keylocking insert installation tool to drive and key the insert into the parent material. Always power down and de-energize any equipment before performing thread repair or insert installation on live machinery. Keys must be driven flush or below flush after installation to lock the insert against rotation. Follow NAS 1394 guidelines for bore preparation, insert seating depth, and key-driving procedure.
