The JC WHITLAM WET8 is a medium-bodied, blue solvent weld cement formulated for PVC pipe and fittings. It functions as a one-step, no-primer-required cement that bonds PVC in wet or dry pipe conditions, making it practical for field work where drying a pipe is not always possible. Supplied in a 1/2 pint dauber top can, the WET8 is rated for bonding temperatures from 0 to 120 degrees F and meets NSF 14/61 and ASTM D2564 standards. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters reach for this cement when they need fast set times and immediate pressure testing capability after the joint is made.
The WET8 is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where PVC pressure and non-pressure piping is used. It handles pressure pipe up to 6 inches in diameter and non-pressure pipe up to 8 inches in diameter. The weatherproof formulation is designed for use in all weather conditions, including cold or damp environments where conventional cements may fail to cure properly. It also performs well on flexible PVC pipe, which sees common use in irrigation and pool and spa systems.
Designed for use on PVC pipe and fittings, including pressure pipe up to 6 inches in diameter and non-pressure pipe up to 8 inches in diameter, as well as flexible PVC pipe.
This cement is typically applied by licensed plumbers working under applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Before applying solvent weld cement, ensure the pipe ends are cut square, deburred, and cleaned. Although no primer is required with the WET8, follow local code requirements, as some jurisdictions mandate primer regardless of cement type. Keep the can sealed when not in use and work in a ventilated area, as solvent cement fumes are flammable and can be hazardous in enclosed spaces.
