The JB INDUSTRIES JBIND-K1-8 is a two-pack of refrigerant drum tank adapters designed for use in HVAC and refrigeration service work. Each adapter transitions from a 1/2 inch-14 female NPS (National Pipe Straight) dryseal thread on the tank side to a 1/4 inch male flare on the tubing side, and includes a fiber gasket for a leak-resistant seal. Machined from high-tensile brass consisting of 65 percent copper and 35 percent zinc, these forged fittings resist corrosion and cracking under demanding service conditions. Rated for vacuum pressures up to 5,000 psi depending on size, material, and conditions, these adapters are appropriate for refrigeration, hydraulic, and marine applications.
These adapters are used when connecting refrigerant lines or service hoses to refrigerant drums and cylinders. They are a standard tool in residential and commercial HVAC refrigerant recovery, charging, and transfer operations. Licensed refrigeration technicians and HVAC service pros install these during system service when working with refrigerant drums that use 1/2 inch-14 NPS female tank fittings. The forged brass construction and dryseal long thread profile make them well suited for repeated make-and-break connections in field service environments.
Designed for use with refrigerant drums and cylinders using 1/2 inch-14 female NPS tank connections. Compatible with copper, brass, aluminum, steel, and plastic tubing systems where a proper flare can be formed. Suitable for refrigeration, HVAC, hydraulic, and marine service applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC or refrigeration technician in accordance with applicable EPA Section 608 regulations and local codes. Shut off all pressure sources and recover or isolate refrigerant before disconnecting or replacing fittings. JB Industries recommends using a compatible thread sealant and tightening 2-1/2 turns past hand tight. Tube size listed as OD (outer diameter); to determine nominal size, subtract 1/8 inch.
