The JACKSON SAFETY 36302 is a vermiculite welding blanket designed to protect surrounding surfaces, equipment, and personnel from weld spatter, sparks, and radiant heat during hot work operations. Measuring 6 feet by 6 feet with a thickness of 0.03 inches, this blanket provides a broad coverage area suited to a range of industrial and field welding tasks. The vermiculite construction delivers heat and flame resistance without the health concerns associated with older fiber blanket materials. Weighing 1.5 pounds, it is light enough to reposition quickly between tasks. Welders, pipefitters, and ironworkers keep this type of blanket on hand as a standard part of hot work setup.
This blanket is used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings wherever arc welding, MIG, TIG, or torch work creates spatter or slag hazards. Typical applications include protecting flooring, ductwork, pipe insulation, and adjacent equipment during in-place repairs or new installations. The 6 ft by 6 ft footprint covers a full work zone around most pipe and equipment connections without needing to be doubled over.
Designed as a general-purpose welding blanket for use in hot work environments requiring spatter and spark containment across trade and industrial applications.
Welding blankets are placed and secured by the welder or a fire watch prior to beginning any hot work. Inspect the blanket before each use for tears, burn-through, or degradation that would compromise coverage. Position the blanket to fully cover any combustible or sensitive surfaces within the spatter zone, and secure edges to prevent shifting during the work. Follow applicable hot work permit procedures and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.252 requirements for fire prevention during welding operations.
