The JACKSON SAFETY 14781 is a contour and radius marker designed for laying out structural steel pipe joints and weld cuts in the field. The tool uses an X-shaped frame, a calibrated angle protractor, a triple-jointed marked arm, and a bracket to let welders and pipefitters mark lateral connections, tees, wyes, crosses, and elbows at any angle without complex math or repeated cut-and-test cycles. A soapstone crayon is included. The tool works in right-side-up and upside-down positions, covering pipe diameters from 1.5 inches to 18 inches and structural steel members up to 18 inches.
This marker is suited for fabrication shops and field installations where pipe layout accuracy directly affects fit-up quality and material yield. Pipefitters, structural steel welders, and ironworkers use this tool when laying out complex joint geometries on round or structural steel stock. It eliminates the time typically lost to manual scribe calculations or iterative test cuts, making it practical for both single-piece fabrication and repetitive production runs.
Designed for use on round pipe from 1.5 inches to 18 inches in diameter and structural steel members up to 18 inches, accommodating a wide range of pipe and steel joint types.
This is a layout and marking tool, not a fastened component. No power source or lockout procedure is required for its use. Welders and pipefitters should confirm the soapstone mark is clearly visible before cutting, and should verify joint angle against project drawings before proceeding with any weld preparation.
