The JACKSON SAFETY 14780 is a welding radius contour marker designed for laying out structural steel pipes, joints, and members in the field or fabrication shop. Built around an X-shaped frame with a calibrated angle protractor and a triple-jointed marked arm and bracket, this compact tool eliminates the need for complex math formulas and repeated cut-and-test cycles. It covers pipe diameters from 1.5 inches to 18 inches and structural steel members up to 18 inches. A soapstone crayon is included. Welders and pipefitters use this tool to mark lateral arrangements, tees, wyes, crosses, and elbows of any angle or joint type with speed and accuracy.
This marker is suited for both residential and commercial structural steel and pipe fabrication work. It performs in right-side-up or upside-down positions, making it practical across a wide range of orientations on the bench or in place. Welders, pipefitters, and ironworkers handling HVAC ductwork, plumbing rough-in, or structural steel connections will find it useful wherever precise contour marking replaces manual layout estimation.
Designed for use on round pipe from 1.5 inches to 18 inches in diameter and structural steel members up to 18 inches, accommodating a broad range of joint types and angles.
This tool is used by welders, pipefitters, and ironworkers during layout and marking before cutting or fitting. No power source or calibration is required prior to use. Ensure the work surface is stable and the part being marked is secured before applying the contour line. Follow applicable welding and fabrication codes when making cuts based on marked layouts.
