The JACKSON SAFETY 14773 Jumbo Contour Marker is a mechanical layout tool designed for marking cut lines on round pipe, structural steel, and tubular members. It works by tracing the contour of one pipe or member against another, eliminating the need to calculate compound angles by hand or rely on the cut-and-test method. Designed for use by pipefitters, plumbers, structural steel fabricators, and ironworkers, the 14773 handles pipe diameters from 1.5 inches to 18 inches and structural steel members up to 18 inches. A soapstone crayon is included for immediate use in the field or shop.
This contour marker is well suited for laying out tees, wyes, crosses, elbows, and lateral connections at any angle on pipe and structural steel. The X-shaped frame, calibrated angle protractor, triple-jointed marker arm, and bracket allow fast repositioning for right-side-up or upside-down marking positions. It removes the guesswork from complex joint geometry and reduces scrap from bad cuts. Typical users include commercial and industrial pipefitters, plumbers working on larger-diameter mechanical systems, and steel fabricators handling structural connections.
Designed for use on round pipe from 1.5 inches to 18 inches in diameter and structural steel members up to 18 inches. Suitable for any pipe material or steel section where a scribed contour layout line is required prior to cutting or fitting.
This tool is used during the layout and fabrication phase before cutting — not during installation of the piping system itself. Secure the workpiece to prevent movement before scribing. Verify the angle protractor setting before marking to avoid rework. No power tools are required to operate this marker.
