The J-B WELD 8281 is a two-part, steel-reinforced cold-weld epoxy supplied as two 5 oz tubes of dark gray compound. It mixes at a 1:1 ratio and delivers a working time of approximately 5 minutes after mixing, with full cure reached in 15 to 24 hours. Once cured, it withstands temperatures from 0 degrees F to 550 degrees F, making it suitable for repairs on components that see elevated heat. Licensed tradespeople and experienced DIYers use this product for structural bonding and repair work across a wide range of materials. Each package contains two tubes.
This epoxy is suited for repair and bonding tasks encountered in residential and light commercial service work. It adheres to ceramic, fiberglass, plastic, tile, wood, brick, and concrete. Typical applications include patching cracked housings, sealing gaps in non-pressure surfaces, repairing mounting brackets, and bonding dissimilar materials where mechanical fasteners are not practical. The dark gray finish blends with metal and concrete surfaces. HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and pool service pros keep this on hand for field repairs that need a fast set and strong bond.
Designed for bonding and repair applications involving ceramic, fiberglass, plastic, tile, wood, brick, and concrete surfaces. Not intended for use on pressurized fluid or gas lines.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and abrade bonding surfaces before mixing. Dispense equal amounts from both tubes and mix thoroughly on a disposable surface until the compound is a uniform color. Work within the 5-minute open time and avoid disturbing the joint until full cure is complete. This product is not a substitute for code-required mechanical connections on structural, gas, or pressure-bearing components.
